Fading Heavens: Restoring the Blue
or Not Another OC Battle!

A contest my good buddy is hosting, here's the info:

"World Domination Studio is proud to present it's latest project called FADING HEAVENS. A Original Character Competition like no other. Unlike other OC Tournaments this one will be more story driven and contestants will be tested on more than just their ability to create generic fight scenes."

::THE BASICS::
Each player will be given an assignment and they will have a week to get it done. The Comic will be due Fridays and posted Sunday of the same week. Each player will be given their own minimum page limits. They can exceed the limit but not hand in any less. The pages from all contestants will be featured as a single comic, each week will be one chapter. To make the comic flow better, WDS staff members will provide "cut scenes" that will advance the plot and fill holes. Since the competition is story based contestants will be left in the dark to most of the details and given pieces which they must work into their entries. It is forbidden to share information between contestants.

::THE STORY::
All the contestants are transported through mysterious gates to a world where the sky is being blocked out by tiny flying creatures called Crepusculum. They are plunging the world into darkness. Your OC must stop or help the decent into darkness and find their way home.

::THE GAME::
You'll get your Mission on Sunday. Each comic should be 1-3 pages long depending on your minimum for that week. You can go past your Minimum, but I know people have lives beyond DA. The mission types include...

Mission Types:

A. Item retrieval
Player is to illustrate the obtainment of an item by their OC.

B. Enemy battle
Player will be provided enemies to defeat.

C. Problem Solving/Plot developing
Player will be given a problem in which their OC will have to solve or a piece of the overall plot of the contest will be leaked out to this person and they have to make it their own and advance the story.

D. Battle another contestant
Two Players will be put against each other and the match will result in the elimination of one of the two players.

E. Boss Battle
Player will be given an "boss" to overcome. A boss can be an Non-Contestant's Characters that are involved in the story.

Note: If you drop or get disqualified your absence will be filled by a cut scene provided by WDS staff.

::HOW THE HELL DO I WIN?!?::
There will be a point system. Each mission you accomplish will be given a letter grade by the judges. In the end the highest grade gets the prize. There will be 9 rounds and a week break after every third week. (which is negotiable).

**PRIZES**
Depending on the turn out, I will release a prize list. I'm a fan of giving good prizes.

::HOW TO ENTER::
An Audition comic is needed. 1-3 Pages long. ABSOLUTELY NO FAN CHARACTERS. (Sorry Narutards) YOU MUST HAVE WHITE BORDERS AND BLACK PANEL BORDERS. You must design the gate that your OC comes through. This gate can look like anything and must reflect your OC's home plain. You can show the sky but your OC cannot see the Crepsculum in any of your panels. You can have any number of your own OCs in the contest. (Be aware that you WILL have to draw them all the time to keep consistency). Your starting location is up to you. Be aware that this all takes place in modern times. The gate has to close leaving your OC stranded. The last panel should be of your OC looking to the sky. They should stay true to their personality and have their natural reaction to the sky being swallowed slowly by darkness. This is not a test of how well you can draw face shots or characters in general. This audition will test your range and creativity. You'll also need a way to instant message *theCEOofDEATH. That way your assignments can be talked over personally with him.

3 judges will be announced as roster fills.

::HOW WILL YOU BE JUDGED::
You will be judged in the following order...
Effort, Creativity, Flow/Readability, Originality, Skill
think of it as each category can earn you a potential 20 points.

FAQ

ABOUT ENTERING
The Contest is not first come first serve. However it is in the best interested of those who are interested to hand in an audition as soon as possible. We start once we feel we have 12 good and committed entrants.

ABOUT THE ENTRY!!
The gate that closes and leaves your OC stranded must also disappear. They can appear anywhere (e.g. forest, in an apartment building, park, etc.). And remember your last panel must be a face shot of your characters expression as they look toward the sky. DO NOT show the Crepusculum.

ABOUT CHARACTER SHEETS
When your entry is done please post it on your own DA account and send a PM to [theCEOofDEATH] containing a link to your entry. If you make it into the roster you will then be asked to provide a character sheet and send your original files. You don’t need a character sheet to audition. So you don't waste time and effort.

ABOUT BORDERS
When we say, “white borders” we mean the area around your panels must be white. With that respect we expect for your panels themselves to be lined in black.

ABOUT PAGE LIMITS
You can have more than 3 pages. We are expecting 1-3. If you want to do more that is fine. Just take into account that wasted and useless pages will hurt your entry. There is a tutorial following this Update that will tell you more about paper requirements. You can link all the pages together to make one long page unless told other wise. Be warned that your .PSD or equivalent original files are required to be sent to me every week.

ABOUT CHARACTERS
There are no themes or restrictions to your OC as long as they are not fan based. So if your character is based in the Naruto world or the Bleach world or even the Power Ranger world they are not allowed. The story of FH does take place in modern times but it is okay to have your medieval, samurai, and caveman etc. OC in the contest. Just stay true to your own character. If your warrior girl has never seen a light post before, stay true to that.
